In less than a week it will be St Valentine, and we all love to decorate our homes with love. So lets so lets make some hearts. This is a quick and easy project, it took me about an hour to create all the things you see here today.
To start, grab yourself some dk yarn and a 4 mm hook and here we go.
Stitches wrote in US terminology
Sc: single crochet Ch: chain Ss: slip stitch
St(s): stitch(s) Hdc: half double crochet
Dc: double crochet Tr: triple crochet
Sc2tog: single crochet two together
Basic heart
ch2
Row 1: 3sc into the 2nd ch from the hook, ch1 and turn. (3)
Row 2: 2sc into the the 1st st, sc into the next, 2sc into the last st ch and turn. (5)
Row 3: sc across across the row, ch1 and turn. (5)
Row 4: 2sc into the 1st st, sc in the next 3 sts, 2sc in to the last sts, ch1 and turn. (7)
Row 5: repeat row 3. (7)
Row 6: 2sc into the 1st st, sc into the next 5 sts, 2 sc into the last, ch1 and turn. (9)
Row 7: repeat row 3. (9)
Row 8: 2sc in to the 1st st, then sc into the next 7 sts, 2sc into the last, ch1 and turn. (11)
Rows 9-11: repeat row 3. (11)
Row 12: sc2tog, into the next st 1hdc,2dc,1tr,2dc,1hdc, skip 2, ss into the next, skip 2, 1hdc,2dc,1tr,2dc,1hdc into the next st, sc2tog over the last 2sts ch1 do NOT turn.
working down the edge of your heart sc to the bottom putting 2 sc into the bottom ch, sc up the other side and around your 1st shell, make a ss into the ss of the previous round, continue to sc to the end ss to join, fasten off and weave in your ends.
Valentines card
I made the basic hearts and stuck them to a card this will make a unique gift.
Garland
For the garland i made several basic hearts and joined them to a chain.
Once your hearts are finished make a ch 5, ss into the 5th ch from the hook then ch 9, * join your heart with a ss into the ss of the last rnd of your heart, ch 19, continue from * until you have placed all your hearts on your garland, ch15, ss into the 5th ch from the hook and fasten off.
3D hearts
Make 2 basic hearts and sew them together leaving a loop at the top to hand them where ever you like.
