E.NeshaCrochet

What is my work process?
I have a multitude of things i like to do when i have an idea. I plan what i want to crochet then i will spend several days scrolling through google and pinterest for pictures, then choose the pattern i feel is right. I have a board on pinterest full of crochet things that i love. I have made one or 2 things from this board, and used certain details like blanket borders and stitch's to make my own things or add it to a project.
This cowl was inspired by Monster high.

This creeper hat is my interpretation of one of my pins
If i want to write a pattern i research size variations, stitches which i think will go well with my project, then i make a stitch swatch with my yarn choice as i think some stitches look better with certain yarn types and colour, then i start my project, writing notes as i go along. When my project is finished i write up my notes on the computer and print them. Then i recreate my project ironing out the fine details.

My initial plans for 2017
Now that we have ventured into 2017 i am concentrating on pattern writing, this is great fun, and it is done purely at leisure, i have made a few already. The hardest part for me is writing them up, as i don't know anybody who crochets from patterns and don't have anybody to give them a once over. At the end of January i opened my Etsy shop to sell my beautiful works of art, as i have plenty of stock. I have not sold anything yet, it is early days and i do not really expect to sell anything straight away, it will take time to become established and to get good customer feedback. This year i do not want to commit myself to a time limit of getting things done, because it has been a struggle getting anything made, with having a baby. He takes up a lot of my time and the moment i sit down to work he is in need of me. While i am writing this post i can say that having my baby has been an inspiration to me, to crochet for him and start making my own patterns. Over the last year i have designed a set of jumper/cardigan patterns from 0-12 months. I am now using the same pattern to design my baby dress, i am on the third attempt with the dress, we will see how they pan out.

What yarns do i use?
Over the last few years i have used a multitude of yarn, but the yarn i frequently use is Rico designs basic acrylic dk. I like this yarn because it is inexpensive and it is readily available in my local shop. I will say a couple of things with this yarn the textures can be a little varied from colour to colour, the dark gray is like working with wire wool, next is that for the basic acrylic you have Dk and Chunky but no Aran size :(. I find living in France that the yarns i want to try are very expensive or hard to get hold of e.g. the craze for the Caron cakes is mental at the moment i am desperate to try them but i have not found a stockist anywhere that will deliver to France. Since i wrote this post Hobby craft have started to stock the Caron cakes, Hobby craft do have shipments coming in from manufactures over the next coming months and they do deliver to Europe. I am now the proud owner of several balls. i can finally get on the band wagon.

What hooks do i use?
Its simple enough to answer i use the curtzy aluminium crochet hooks. I like them because they are smooth work with them and they have no drag. I have tried the pony but do not like the shortness of the hook it digs into my hand and irritates it leaving sore marks. It will be my birthday in just over a month so i will maybe treat myself to some new hooks, look out for a future post on that. My favourite hook size is the 4mm i love working with it, i use It all the time, it seems to fit perfectly in my hand.
